I first started seeing hair rings when Christina Aguilera had it on The Voice. Then Ariana Grande was photographed with them, and I was seeing them all over girls that went to Coachella. I thought it looked so cool and edgy and I wanted to try it on my hair!
I Googled “hair rings” and it took me to Etsy where some sellers were offering them 10 for $5. I thought that I could make them myself. I went to Walmart and found this copper wire and figured that I could just cut them with wire cutters and shape them with pliers. The wire was actually pretty pliable so I could shape them myself.
I wrapped the wire around a Super Sharpie (the thicker one) to get the perfect circle, cut it with the wire cutter, and shaped it into a little bit bigger than a dime size. I made about 50 rings with the 16 gauge silver wire and way more with the 20 gauge copper colored wire. I prefer the 16 gauge because of the thickness.
I searched some Google Images for hair inspo and this is what I came up with. I did a little braid in the middle of my hair and tied it off with a small plastic hair tie. I opened the ring slightly and slid it between my hair in the braid. Like how you would put a key on a keyring.
I could just leave all the rest of my hair like this or put it up in a pony tail. I wrapped some of my hair around the tie so it looked a little sleeker.
I also wanted to use the copper rings to see what those looked like so I did twists on the side of my head, similar to cornrows. I used bobby pins to secure it to my head and added the copper rings randomly to the twists.
Any search engine’s images, Pinterest, or Instagram has a bunch of different ideas where you could come up with so many ways to style these rings. I think they’re so awesome and different!
